SCORPION
General description
Scorpions are arthropods, they have eight legs, two pedipalps, and a tail with a venom-injecting barb. Scorpions have two venom glands that produce venom used in hunting and self-defence. They prey on insects, arthropods and in some cases small vertebrates.
FLAT ROCK
Flat rock scorpions are native to South Africa. These scorpions are large averaging seven inches. They have large strong flat pincers well adapted for grabbing prey in cracks. Flat Rock Scorpions are a common sight in captive collections, and those are some of the reasons why! Babies eat pinhead crickets, and other small insects. Adults feed on crickets and large insects. Flat Rock Scorpions can live between 6 to 8 years. 5. The Flat Rock Scorpion is quite calm and will give a slight pinch when disturbed rather than sting.
DESERT HAIRY
The Desert Hairy Scorpion is the largest scorpion in North America. It is not a dangerous scorpion, to humans at least- unless you are allergic to it, their venom is pretty much harmless. This species is aggressive though, and will sting readily. Adult Desert hairy scorpions eat crickets, mealworms, moths, other large insects, and even pinkie mice, small lizards and baby birds.
ASIAN FOREST
Adult Asian forest scorpions eat crickets, mealworms, moths, other large insects, and even pinkie mice or small lizards. Adults should be feed every other day or so. Asian forest scorpions should be fed at night as they are nocturnal. The Asian Forest Scorpion is more aggressive than the emperor scorpion. They can be kept in groups, but it is not recommended due to their aggressive nature. The venom from an Asian forest scorpion's sting is mild. Total lifespan usually ranges between 5 to 8 years for Asian forest scorpions.
